Upcoming Nasuni Data Services Platform OS Upgrade

CentOS 7 to Rocky Linux 8

Why am I receiving this?

As part of Nasuni’s commitment to continuous improvement and quality we are planning to upgrade the operating system underlying the Nasuni Edge Appliance (NEA) and Nasuni Management Console (NMC) from CentOS 7 to Rocky Linux 8. These upgrades will occur as a seamless part of upcoming Nasuni software releases as noted below. 

 

This informational service advisory provides notice of the details and the anticipated timing for the product releases that will include the new operating system.

 

What are the plans and anticipated timing?

 

Nasuni Edge Appliance (NEA) version 10 and Nasuni Management Console (NMC) version 24.1 will focus on upgrading the core platform underlying OS from CentOS 7 to Rocky Linux 8. 

 
These versions are targeted for release by the end of June 2024, ahead of the official end of support for CentOS 7. 
 
Nasuni will continue to provide all critical security updates to supported versions of the NEA (currently 9.14.x and 9.12.x) and NMC (currently 23.3.x and 23.2.x) until they reach end-of-life per the Nasuni End-of-Life Policy. 

 

Nasuni also has an open project of migrating the NAA Server to run on the same operating system as the NEA and NMC.  We expect the re-platformed NAA Server version to be available in the first half of 2025.  
 
Nasuni will provide extended support to current releases of the NAA Server (2301.x, 2309.x, and any further NAA releases in 2024) to ensure that we can deliver all critical security updates to supported versions of the NAA Server until the migration project is completed. 

 

Which Nasuni versions are in scope?

 

All versions of the Nasuni Edge Appliance (NEA) prior to 10.0, Nasuni Management Console (NMC) prior to 24.1, and Nasuni Access Anywhere (NAA) Server prior to the 1H 2025 release (version number TBD) are in scope.

 

Do I need to take action?

 

There is no required action at this time.  As the new releases become available, the only required action will be to upgrade through our normal release processes at that time.  As always, we recommend that you update your Nasuni software regularly to stay current with the latest features.
